Composite Tooling

Coast Composites specializes in small to large scale complex composite tooling in a wide variety of materials including carbon Bismaleimide (BMI), carbon epoxy, Out of Autoclave (OOA), fiberglass, carbon foam, monolithic graphite, rubber, and foam products. Composite tooling provides the lightweight, dimensionally accurate, and affordable tooling required by our customers. Coast Composites maintains a well trained workforce with extensive experience with BMI composite materials, certified layup personnel, bagging and leak testing specialists to ensure we build the best composites for our customers in the tooling industry.  We provide a full service of composite tooling manufacturing for all industries.

Coast Composites, has a wide breadth of tooling capabilities that now include best in industry composite tooling fabrication and a recently added, 15,000 ft2 (1,394 m2) composite shop complete with a 13 ft diameter x 50 ft length (4 m x15.2 m) autoclave. Fabrication capabilities include autoclave prepreg production tooling: consisting of carbon BMI, carbon epoxy, OOA , infusion FAST tooling for limited use production, prototype & repair, and hybrid tooling. Capabilities also include the ability to fabricate large facesheets, non standard backup structure headers (30 ft x 9 ft ) (9.1 m x 2.7 m), and proprietary preform backup structure BMI tie ins.

Onsite engineering & design capability

Our facilities offers a 30 ft wide x 30 ft length x 8 ft height (3.7 m x 9.1 m x 2.4 m) cure oven, N/C ply cutter, freezer storage, and optical laser template capability.

Dedicated layup, assembly area, and bond prep

Our facility is AS9100 compliant and meets all quality requirements associated with the handling and storage of composite materials. This added resource complements our existing tooling fabrication capability and allows Coast Composites to provide complete vertical integration to better control schedule and cost, particularly on large composite tools.
