Engineering & Design

Coast Composites offers a diverse professional staff of engineers, tool designers, fabricators, machinists, and tool builders. They are equipped with the latest technology in computer aided design and analysis software along with the virtual workshop and the latest laser tracker systems for tool manufacture and inspection. Engineers and designers work closely with skilled manufacturing personnel to ensure innovative, producible, and cost effective solutions to every customer’s unique project requirements.

Coast has adopted the “concurrent design and build” philosophy as an integral element in its principal line of business. In today’s competitive marketplace, many customers are faced with very challenging delivery schedules. To support their requirements, Coast engineers with their experience and knowledge of product have developed methods to allow the design process to progress concurrently with the tool manufacturing process.

Another key ingredient to our company’s success is coordination and communication with the customer throughout the projects development. We encourage our customers to conduct workshops and take advantage of the unique opportunity to become involved in all aspects of engineering and design. This teaming approach to complex system designs ensures the company’s continued success in meeting schedules, budgets and technical requirements of each customer’s particular design challenge.

Utilizing the latest design platforms and software, the company’s tool engineering group runs stress analysis and CFD to develop tooling structures that optimize weight and structural rigidity while maintaining good airflow characteristics of the tools to be manufactured. This software is used as an aid to tool improvement, thus ensuring delivery of an optimized tooling solution.
